Somerset County Business Parks Somerset County is home to four business parks. The town of Pittsfield has the Pittsfield Industrial Park which contains businesses such as, Walpole Woodworkers, Sonoco and Hancock Lumber. The town of Pittsfield and the Pittsfield Economic Expansion Corporation have begun the expansion of the park to add twenty eight acres of developable land. The town of Skowhegan's business park is fully occupied with businesses like Northeast Doran, Richard Carrier Trucking and Dirigo Stitching. The town of Skowhegan is in the process of developing a new business park, Southgate Business Park on busy U.S. Route 201. This new park will contain eight lots, more information may be obtained at www.skowhegan.org. The town of Madison has just completed their new business park, Madison Business Gateway. The new park is home to Madison Electric Works, which currently offers the lowest electric rates in the state and serves the park. The town of Fairfield opened the new Thomas M. Teague Biotech Park in June of 2002. The new park serves as an incubator for biotech and related industries. Central Maine Power Company provides premium power reliability with an installed loop feed electric service to the park from two separate substations.  The option for future dual feed service is available for companies with critical electric load requirements.
