Somerset County is centrally located in the State of Maine. The southern end of the county is only one hour from Portland, the states largest city. The northern end of the county is only one and a half hours from the city of Quebec and its 1.2 million people.

Three major highways pass through Somerset County. U.S. route 201 runs north-south and connects us with Quebec province to the north and interstate 95 to the south. U.S. Route 2 runs east-west through the county and connects us with New Hampshire to the west and New Brunswick, Canada and the rest of the Canadian Maritimes to the east. Interstate 95 connects Somerset County to New England and the remainder of the United States to our south.

Somerset County Maine is home to 51,000 hardworking, energetic and friendly Mainers who participate in an economy as diverse as their cultural heritage. Somerset County's economy includes natural resource based companies such as paper manufacturers and sawmills and boasts being one of the top maple syrup producing counties in the United States. Somerset County also prides itself as home to leading edge businesses that manufacture electronic components and our new Thomas M Teague Bio-Tech park, that provides incubator space for start up bio-tech firms.
