Somerset County Transportation

Somerset County is served by three public airports in Pittsfield, Norridgewock and Jackman and a private airport in Bingham. The Pittsfield Municipal Airport www.pittsfield.org operates on user fees with low rental costs. The airport has two full time fixed base operators located on private land adjacent to the airport. The Central Maine Regional Airport, www.fly-cmra.org, is located just west of the town of Norridgewock on U.S. Route 2. CMRA serves the aviation needs of Central Maine with two runways each nearly 4000 feet in length.

Three major highways pass through Somerset County. U.S. route 201 runs north-south and connects us with Quebec province to the north and interstate 95 to the south. U.S. route 2 runs east-west through the county and connects us with New Hampshire to the west and New Brunswick, Canada and the rest of the Canadian Maritimes to the east. Interstate 95 connects Somerset County to New England and the remainder of the United States to our south.

The city of Waterville on Somerset County's Eastern border is home to a intermodal freight facility which serves the large freight requirements of industry.
